A young magician's apprentice sets out for revenge against a rival magician, only to uncover a far more sinister scheme. This dual-perspective tale alternates between Bartimaeus, whose wit and wisdom add humor to the story, and Nathaniel, whose viewpoint is more serious and short-sighted. It is a wonderful journey and entry into the series.
