Policies that Govern our Library.

Getting a Library Card

Residents of Dickinson and Galveston County may obtain a free library card after completing the proper application. Proof of valid mailing address must be shown at the time of application along with a working phone number.

Individuals living outside of Galveston County may get a DPL Library card if they have a valid TexShare card from their local library.

A TexShare card is a statewide library card that lets you borrow books and other materials from more than 500 libraries across the state. This card is a free service to you provided by your local library. There is a $2.00 fee to replace lost library cards.

Checkout Limit

  • 5 DVDs per residential address
  • Ten ebooks
  • 15 CDs
  • We are a small library; please leave books for others. We reserve the right to limit non-fiction checkouts to 3 per subject.

Renewal

All items may be rechecked out for one circulation period if no other patron has requested the item. Renewal requests may be made by phone or via the online catalog.

Fines

Dickinson Public use the following for Fines

Patrons and their minor children will be blocked if they have library fines over $5.00.

A $5.00 service charge will be applied to the cost of any lost or damaged library materials.

Materials turned into the book drop before opening hours will be checked in as though they were returned the day before.

Failure to pick up ILL materials will result in being charged for the cost of return postage.
