Library Mission Statement

Dickinson Public Library is dedicated to fostering a dynamic community hub, home to free information, technology, and experiences for all.

Library Services

The Dickinson Public Library offers our patrons a wide array of services that they can use daily during and after our hours of operations.

Checkout Limits

  • 30 items in total
  • 30 books
  • 10  DVDS
  • 10 eBooks
  • 2 Board Games
  • We are a small library, please leave books for others! We reserve the right to limit non-fiction checkouts to 3 per subject.
  • New Cardholders will be limited to 5 items for their first checkout. Once materials are returned, regular circulation rules will apply.

 

Renewals

All items will be automatically renewed (2) circulation periods if no other patron has requested them.

 

Fees

  • If checked-out materials become lost or damaged, the cardholders or parent/guardian will be responsible to pay a replacement fee for that material
  • A $5.00 service charge will be added to the cost of any lost or damaged library material.
  • Patrons and their minor children will be blocked if they have fees over $5.00.
  • Failure to pick up ILL materials will result in being charged for the cost of return postage.

Hours

  • Computers shut down 30 minutes before closing.
  • Circulation shuts down 5 minutes before closing.

  • How much does it cost to get a library card?

    There is no charge for first-time applicants. All you will need is your photo ID, proof of mailing address, and fill out a Patron Library Card Application.

  • Do I need a library card to use a public computer?

    If you do not have a library card, we can give you a temporary guest pass to use the computer. 

  • How much does it cost to print?

    Black and white prints are $.10/per page, and color prints are $1.00/per page.

  • How many DVDs can we check out at a time?

    DVDs are limited to 5 per household.

  • Can we renew DVDs?

    Yes, DVDs can be renewed twice.

  • Can we request a DVD to be placed on hold or reserve?

    Yes, any DVD can be placed on hold or reserve.

  • Does the library have a fax machine for public use?

    Yes, faxes can be sent and received for $1.00/per page.

  • Can I get something notarized at the library?

    Yes, we offer notary services. Call to let us know that you'd like an appointment!

  • What is my Pin for OverDrive?

    Your pin is your last name, all lowercase.
